This sounds really fishy...aren't there anti-trust laws against this kind of corporate bait-n-switch? Anything at all can be content protected, and that results in all sorts of problems (see Gutmann's paper for more details) I'm not aware of any of the worse parts of Vista's content protection (such as downgrading image quality) being required by the MPAA and I've been looking. If Apple wants to play the HD and Blu-Ray content in the future they will have to implement the same sort of protections that Microsoft has in Vista.
