A movie about young Stalin (just eleven years old) and how he raised enough money to buy himself a bicycle and win The Big Serf (a bike race for peasant boys ages ten to fifteen). This shows us the softer, more youthful and innocent side of one of our favorite dictators. We see young Iosif (Stalin’s real name) washing windows, scrubbing cabbage, polishing mason jars, and more to save up enough rubles. In the end he has to beat Igor, a fourteen year old with capitalist leanings. A light-hearted romp with some real touching aspects.
