Starbucks and How They are Hurting our Environment

The Sun is reporting that every Starbucks store everywhere is leaving a faucet running. It is said that potable drinking water will become much harder to come by worldwide in the next fifty years, so why is Starbucks wasting water? Because they think it keeps the pipes clean. A theory has has been laughed off by experts. The Sun points out that Starbucks is

…wasting 23.4 MILLION litres a day. That would provide enough daily water for the entire two million-strong population of drought-hit Namibia in Africa or fill an Olympic pool every 83 minutes.

What can you do? Send feedback using their easy form, write an email or a letter, or call and tell Starbucks you won’t do business there until they change their policy.

Palin Debate Flowchart

If you watched the Vice President debate you may have noticed that Palin didn’t really come off as convincing. Well, there is a reason for that. While both Palin and Biden are working from a script only one was able to supplement that with actual content and it wasn’t Palin. I don’t think Biden knocked anyone’s socks off, but he didn’t away from Palin and addressed what she said directly while Palin only spoke of things tangentially related to what the moderator or Biden spoke about. So here it is, fresh from some guy’s website, the Palin Debate flowchart:

Saul Williams & Cx KiDTRONiK Afropunk

This is Saul Williams [1][2] He does a lot of interesting things. Here he is collaborating with Cx KiDTRONiK [1] [2]

Saul Williams recently came out with The Inevitable Rise and Liberation of NiggyTardust! [1] Making this Saul collaborated with Cx KiDTRONiK and Trent Reznor or Nine Inch Nails

Afropunk is something apparently. There is even a movie about it. Saul Williams & Cx KiDTRONiK seem interesting enough, so I’d also be interested in seeing this movie.

And just to be clear Cx KiDTRONiK is not to be confused with the crappy French song entitled KidtroniK.

Remove the Arrows in iTunes

terminal application
There used to be a preference to remove the arrows that linked to the iTunes store. That option disappeared from the preferences in iTunes 8, but you can still reach it through the magic of the terminal. And don’t worry it is easy. Open the Terminal application (look in the applications folder, then the system utilities folder). Then just paste this line into the terminal and hit return:
defaults write com.apple.iTunes show-store-arrow-links -bool FALSE

Want those goofy annoying arrows back? Easy.
defaults write com.apple.iTunes show-store-arrow-links -bool TRUE
