Yesterday one of my students told me about this bear 熊 (くま kuma) named Claud at the Hiroshima Zoo that has taken to twirling sticks. Apparently this is not something that he’s been trained to do, he just started doing it on his own. People in Japan have been flocking to see him twirl and toss sticks. Here’s a video.
Of course this leaves aside the questions about why he is doing this, because the answer to that question might not be too cute. I don’t know what Claud’s life is like at the zoo so I’ll say no more.

Reminds me of gun twirling. Maybe that’s what he’s hoping to get his hands on. Watch out for the Bear Revolution!!
Long Live the Bear Revolution!! I for one welcome our new overlords.
I don’t know, man. Your feelings may change once our new overlords take away all of our pickanick baskets and send our butts to re-education camps in the country.
Hey, post something new in your Japan-centric blog. The one post about Narita is getting lonely.
